Weblog

To blog or not to blog- shouldn't even be questioned. I need to get going and incorporate blogging into my classroom. I get various online newsletters (EdWeek Update and Teacher Update-just to name a few) and I have just glanced at the blog information from these subscriptions. I guess I better climb aboard.
Here's a link http://blogs.edweek.org/teachers/jshyu/
This is just one example of the numerous articles I have been passing over!

I like your energy and devotion to teaching. Yes: to the blogging-- the road less traveled by but more promising...

Hi Doreen,
Love your picture. You look strong and happy. Fascinating story. Really enjoyed it. From reading the article and seeing the examples of blogs on our websites how do you envision using blogs with your students? You can respond on the Discussion board if you like.

Loved your websites of your family and school. Your school has some excellent web links for k12. Could you add one or two to our class wiki? I especially liked the illustrated dictionary.

I'm glad Nima pointed out your family and school links - somehow I missed them at the bottom of the blog. Glad you've found the value of blogs for your own professional development as well - I'd like to think that we're not just following the students and trying to keep up with technology but leading the way in some cases. I checked out the link you provided and was reminded of my vacation to Arizona and the Grand Canyon with my husband this past January. We took a van tour of the area - such a beautiful landscape around the canyon and the Painted Desert and also striking poverty on the parts of the Navajo reservation we observed. Good luck in incorporating blogging into your classroom and teacher network!

Hi Doreen,
I also want to thank you for sharing your websites. We do have a family website with a huge archive, but it is in Russian, my first language. For the beginning of this school year, I will come up with my own website and ask my colleagues to contribute to the departmental one as well. Thanks for a good idea!

I think that you did a great job with your blog design. Mine is still a work in progress but I think that I am understanding it a little bit better. It was nice to learn about where you live and your family.
